First Edition is referring to the fabric used on the plush, which in this case is basic felt. Later Jakks decided to change their plush to be made with an almost minky fabric, which was much nicer but is less common than the original set.

Croagunk (New Fabric)
Availability- Uncommon (5)
An exciting find deep in the Salvation Army plush bin. Still has the ugly design of the previous Jakks Croagunk, but the soft fabric makes it much more pleasant.

I was very fortunate to stumble across this plush very recently at a toy store in the mall, some time after Jakks had dropped the license. The Jakks Johto plush don't pop up too often in the wild, and even on eBay the prices have spiked for the good majority of them, thanks to the piss-poor distribution Jakks was known for.
